European involvement

The Leicestershire Cohorts Studies are part of two European projects

Enrieco (Environmental Health Risks in European Birth Cohorts, www.enrieco.org) and CHICOS (Developing a Child Cohort Research Strategy for Europe, www.chicosproject.eu) are two projects conducted within the European Union's 7th Framework Programme.

The overall aim of Enrieco project is to advance our knowledge on specific environment and health causal relationships in birth cohorts. The Leicestershire Cohort Studies are involved in the work package, which aims to make inventories of existing cohorts. Two articles are already published.

The CHICOS project aims to improve child health across Europe by developing an integrated strategy for mother-child cohort research in Europe. The Leicestershire Cohort Studies are involved in the work package, which aims to evaluate existing information on child health outcomes from mother-child cohorts, to identify gaps in knowledge in this topic, to evaluate links in routine registries, and to make recommendations for research action at the European level for the next 15 years. First results will be reported soon.
